What is Zopiclone? And does it work similarly to Eszopiclone?

Zopiclone is very similar to Eszopiclone. It is also used to treat certain sleep problems such as insomnia in adults. In case you are having a lot of trouble falling asleep, your doctor may prescribe you either Zopiclone or Eszopiclone. The only difference is that they come in different forms of doses. Both of the drugs belong to a similar class of drugs which is sedative-hypnotic. These medications are limited to short term treatment and are not advised to use them both for the long term. Precautions to take when consuming Zopiclone & Eszopiclone

Both of the doses of these drugs are prescribed based on your age, gender, weight, existing medical conditions, and response to treatment. Please do not increase the dose as per your own whims, also do not take it more frequently than prescribed. It is advised that you follow your doctor’s advice and prescription for optimal results and fewer side effects. 

Do not abruptly stop taking these drugs, doing so can cause severe withdrawal symptoms - which often include; nausea, shakiness, vomiting, stomach cramps, nervousness, flushing, etc. To help reduce the risk of severe withdrawal symptoms, your doctor may choose to gradually reduce the dose over a period of time. Withdrawal is more likely if you have a history of substance abuse which may include certain recreational and pharmaceutical drugs and also alcohol abuse. 

If this medication is continued for a prolonged period of time, it may not work as well as it did initially. As your body may develop a tolerance for the drug and you may need more of it in order to have a similar desired effect as you did initially. This may also increase the risk of a possible overdose on the drugs. 

Please consult with your doctor in case you are starting to face any kind of withdrawal symptoms or side effects. You may begin to experience trouble sleeping if you discontinue the drug for the first few days, this stage is known as rebound insomnia and it is normal. It should subside on its own after the first couple of nights. However, if it continues then please contact your doctor.
